ReStory Firmware Update Not Working: Guitar Legend & MyPod

Follow the verified ReStory firmware-update flow, identify a successful update, and check the current Guitar Legend and MyPod bug status.

If Firmware Update works normally, fully repair, clean, and reassemble the device, leave it on the workbench, open Unlock-Toolkit on the shop computer, and type the code shown by the program until it reports SUCCESS. A follow-up check can report SERVICE NOT NEEDED, and the job card’s UPDATE FIRMWARE line should be crossed out.

If the affected device is Guitar Legend or Mapple MyPod, do not assume you missed a normal step. The developers officially listed firmware-update bugs for both devices on August 7, 2026. As of the August 8 check, no public patch-release notice or verified universal workaround was available.

Verified normal Firmware Update flow

The following sequence comes from a continuous formal-release longplay using an IDM ThinkerDad. It verifies the normal system without claiming that Guitar Legend or MyPod behaves the same way.

1. Read the job card

At approximately 09:27:58, the IDM ThinkerDad order shows three requested services:

  • REPAIR
  • CLEAN
  • UPDATE FIRMWARE

Treat the paper job card as the source of truth. Do not run a firmware tool merely because a device contains electronic parts; the service must be requested by the order.

2. Complete physical repair and cleaning first

The player replaces the required components, cleans the device, and rebuilds it. Immediately before the software step, the IDM ThinkerDad is fully reassembled, open, and resting on the main workbench.

No separate cable interaction is visible in this recording. That proves the observed IDM ThinkerDad sequence, not a universal no-cable rule for every gadget.

3. Leave the device on the workbench

At approximately 09:32:24, the completed device remains on the desk while the player switches to the shop computer. Do not pack the order before completing the requested firmware service.

4. Open Unlock-Toolkit

The player opens UNLOCK-TOOLKIT 2.53.A. The program reports:

  • CONNECTING DEVICE: COMPLETED
  • CHECKING DEVICE: SYSTEM READY TO UPDATE
  • START TYPING THE CODE ON THE KEYBOARD

These messages distinguish a normal ready state from a connection failure.

5. Type the displayed code

Enter the code shown in the toolkit window. In the verified sequence, code fills the window while the progress bar advances. Continue until the progress reaches the end; do not close the tool halfway through the operation.

6. Confirm Success

At approximately 09:32:42, the toolkit shows a full progress bar, SUCCESS, and Finish. This is the direct completion signal for the software step.

7. Recheck the device and job card

Running the tool again at approximately 09:33:00 reports:

  • CONNECTING DEVICE: COMPLETED
  • CHECKING DEVICE: SERVICE NOT NEEDED

Back at the workbench, Repair, Clean, and Update Firmware are all crossed out. Together, these states provide stronger confirmation than relying on the progress bar alone.

Why Guitar Legend Firmware may still fail

The official August 7 Known Issues list names an updating-firmware bug affecting Guitar Legend and MyPod. A separate Guitar Legend bug report also received a developer acknowledgement during the launch window.

That means a Guitar Legend order can remain blocked even when you understand the normal IDM ThinkerDad sequence. One current-release discussion records the connection message as connecting device: not possible for this device. Players in that thread report the same failure after fully repairing, cleaning, and rebuilding the item. The evidence does not establish whether the root cause is a specific toolkit version, order variant, or save state.

What is not a verified Guitar Legend fix

  • Repeatedly reopening Unlock-Toolkit
  • Buying the highest toolkit upgrade
  • Disassembling and rebuilding the guitar again
  • Buying another Guitar Legend from the Marketplace
  • Letting the order become overdue
  • Reloading or reinstalling the game

Some of these actions may appear in community discussion, but none is supported as a safe universal recovery in the current evidence set.

Why Mapple MyPod may not connect

MyPod connection and firmware failures were initially repeated community reports; the official August 7 post now includes MyPod in the acknowledged firmware bug. Current-release reports describe the shop computer not recognizing MyPod as a valid device, including after a more expensive Unlock Tool was purchased.

The longplay used for the normal flow shows a Mapple Mypod online order and later Marketplace and parts listings, but the player never processes that order before the video ends. It therefore cannot tell us what the failed MyPod connection looks like or how to recover it.

Use the same normal prerequisite check—finish requested physical work, reassemble the device, leave it on the bench, and open the toolkit—but do not blame yourself if the acknowledged MyPod issue prevents the normal ready state.

Does upgrading Unlock-Toolkit fix Firmware Update?

Not reliably according to the available evidence. Community posts say the affected devices can still fail with an upgraded toolkit. The verified successful IDM ThinkerDad sequence uses Unlock-Toolkit 2.53.A, but that only proves this version worked for that device and order.

Do not turn “the toolkit has upgrades” into “the highest upgrade fixes Guitar Legend.” Those are different claims.

Firmware Update is not the same as Reprogram or Hacking

The current Steam achievement guide discusses Reprogram/Hacking, installation media, and Unlock-Toolkit progression. Those mechanics may share software or UI, but they are not automatically interchangeable with a customer order’s UPDATE FIRMWARE service.

This guide uses a job card that explicitly requests Update Firmware and a continuous successful customer-device sequence. It does not substitute an unrelated hacking achievement for repair evidence.

What to do with a blocked or overdue Firmware order

No safe universal recovery is verified yet. If Guitar Legend or MyPod will not enter the normal ready state:

  1. Confirm the job card really requests Update Firmware.
  2. Finish Repair and Clean tasks first.
  3. Fully reassemble the device and leave it on the workbench.
  4. Record the device name, order type, toolkit version, and exact connection message.
  5. Check the official Steam news feed for a patch newer than August 8, 2026.
  6. Preserve the affected save and report it through the official bug channel.

Do not sell, dismantle, or discard a customer device based on this page. The order and reputation consequences of those actions have not been verified.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know the firmware update succeeded?

The verified sequence shows SUCCESS, followed by a SERVICE NOT NEEDED recheck and a crossed-out Update Firmware item on the paper job card.

Does the device need a cable?

No separate cable interaction is visible for the verified IDM ThinkerDad job. The device is fully reassembled and left on the workbench while the player uses the shop computer. Other devices may have different requirements, so this is not a universal rule.

Is Guitar Legend firmware broken?

The developers officially acknowledge a firmware-update bug affecting Guitar Legend. That confirms the issue category, but not every symptom, root cause, or workaround.

Is MyPod officially affected?

Yes. The official August 7 Known Issues list names MyPod alongside Guitar Legend.

Has the patch shipped?

The developers said the first update was being prepared, but no later patch-release announcement was visible in the official Steam news feed during the August 8 check.
