ReStory’s launch build has an official Known Issues list. On August 7, 2026, the developers said they were preparing the first post-launch update and specifically named firmware problems for Guitar Legend and MyPod, gadgets becoming stuck in the sonic bath, competition-mode inventory trouble, an IDM disassembly error, an email notification problem, UltraWide disassembly bugs, and two achievements unlocking too early.
As of August 8, 2026, the official Steam news feed does not show that update as released. The issues below must therefore be treated as open unless a later patch note or current-build test proves otherwise.
This page is an independent evidence tracker, not an official support page. “Developer acknowledged” means the team has publicly identified the problem; it does not mean a fix is already available.
Current official Known Issues
| Issue | Affected system | Current status | Verified workaround |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firmware update fails | Guitar Legend and MyPod | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | None verified |
| Gadget stuck in sonic bath | Sonic/ultrasonic cleaning | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | No verified fix; one single-case click-and-drag recovery report |
| “How Did I Do It” unlocks early | Achievement | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | Not applicable; patch pending |
| “Frugal” unlocks early | Achievement | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | Not applicable; patch pending |
| Inventory cannot be used | Competition mode | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | None verified |
| Disassembly error | An IDM device | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | None verified |
| New-mail indicator does not update | Mail tab | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | Check the inbox manually; this is a navigation precaution, not a verified fix |
| Disassembly display problems | UltraWide screens | Developer acknowledged on August 7 | None verified in the current evidence set |
The developers said they were performing final checks before pushing the first update. Until a release announcement names the patch and its fixes, keep all eight rows in an open state.
Community-reported problems still being tracked
The following reports are relevant, but they do not all appear in the official August 7 list.
Cleaning stays at 0% or does not react
Players have reported cases where the cleaning sound plays but dirt does not disappear, or progress appears not to move. Some older discussion history comes from the Demo or Playtest, while newer replies appear around the full-release window. That mixed history prevents us from assigning one root cause to every report.
Before treating the save as bugged, use the verified normal checks: select the correct loose component, inspect both sides, look for another dirty panel, and confirm that the work order still asks for cleaning. If the selected part remains at 0% despite the correct interaction, classify it as Community reported / Needs reproduction. There is no verified universal recovery yet.
See the dedicated Cleaning Not Working guide for the normal checklist and the evidence limits around 0% progress.
A part disappears or cannot be retrieved
Launch-window Steam reports describe small components disappearing or becoming unreachable around the sonic cleaner. The official August 7 post independently acknowledges that some gadgets can become stuck in the sonic bath, so the general problem is no longer based only on community posts.
Normal footage shows parts being placed in the cleaner, the timed cycle running, and the cleaned parts being removed afterward. A part that cannot be selected after the cycle is outside that verified normal path. Save/reload has not been established as a safe recovery; one report says a restart did not restore the missing component.
One player reported recovering a missing top cover by clicking and dragging the bath itself, causing the part to appear on the cursor. Treat that only as a low-risk community attempt: it is a single success, has not been reproduced across other components, and does not replace the need for a patch.
Save or progression trouble after Day 1
There are launch-window reports of a crash or freeze around saving after the first day and of customer progression appearing to stop. These reports are not in the official August 7 issue list and have not been reproduced in the current evidence set.
The verified normal end-of-day flow is to close the shop, use the bicycle/end-day interaction, select Save and end the day, review the summary, and continue into Day 2. If that sequence fails, record exactly where it stopped and report the save through the official bug channel. Do not assume reinstalling the game or starting over is a guaranteed fix.
The shop is still described as dirty
Players have questioned why dialogue or evaluation still refers to dust, insects, or an unclean shop after visible cleaning. It is not yet clear whether this is a hidden cleanliness mechanic, fixed story dialogue, or a bug. No official explanation or reproducible completion rule has been found.
Treat this as Community reported, not as proof that a particular decoration, broom interaction, or upgrade is required.
Achievement inconsistencies beyond the official list
The current WIP Steam achievement guide reports additional inconsistencies, including the wrong achievement appearing during early cleaning and trouble with some license-related or completion achievements. These are useful leads, but most are secondary community evidence.
The official August 7 list only confirms that How Did I Do It and Frugal can unlock early. A separate developer reply acknowledges an early Solder-related achievement problem. Other achievement rows should remain community-reported until a developer response, patch note, or current-build reproduction supports them.
What to do if you hit a known issue
There is no single reset procedure that safely fixes every launch bug. Use this evidence-preserving approach:
- Note the exact device, order type, requested services, and day.
- Capture the full message or screen state, not only the final symptom.
- If the problem involves Firmware, record the Unlock-Toolkit version and the last connection message.
- If it involves the sonic bath, record the missing component and whether the cycle completed.
- Keep the affected save available for reporting.
- Check the official Steam news feed for a newer patch before retrying community suggestions.
- Report reproducible bugs through the pinned Steam bug-reporting thread or the official Discord.
This list intentionally does not tell you to delete a save, repeatedly reinstall, sell a customer device, or abandon an order. None of those actions is verified as a safe universal recovery.
Patch status
August 7, 2026 — first update announced, not yet published
The developers published the official launch Known Issues list and said the first update was being prepared. The post names the affected systems but does not provide a public build number, finished patch notes, or verified workarounds.
August 8, 2026 — latest check
The official Steam news feed still shows the August 7 Known Issues announcement as the latest post-launch status. We have not found a separate release notice confirming that the fixes are live.
When the update ships, each row must be reviewed individually. A patch existing does not prove every old save or every affected device is repaired.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Guitar Legend firmware bug official?
Yes. Guitar Legend and MyPod firmware problems are both named in the developers’ August 7 Known Issues list. No verified workaround or shipped fix was available at the August 8 check.
Is the sonic bath problem official?
Yes, at the general level. The developers list some gadgets becoming stuck in the sonic bath. Individual reports about a specific battery or small component still need their own reproduction before we describe an exact cause.
Has the first patch fixed these bugs?
Not yet according to the latest official news check used for this draft. The team announced that an update was being prepared, but no later patch-release post was visible as of August 8, 2026.
Where should I report a bug?
Use the pinned Bugs & Technical Issues reporting thread on Steam or the official ReStory Discord. Include the affected save and enough detail to reproduce the failure.
